Three tips for writing a cliffhanger:
1.) Ending a chapter on a cliffhanger: it can be effective to leave things off at the end of the chapter with suspense. It makes the reader want to keep reading and really gets the reader invested in the story. It is all about how you build it up as well, based on your book’s genre.
2.) Keep the stakes high and at the top of the reader/character’s mind. There has to be some sort of tension and mystery involved.
3.) Don’t leave everything as a cliffhanger at the end of the book. Some things need to resolve.
